In this world, there are dog people and cat people. You usually are either one or the other. I am not a cat person… I am a crazy cat lady!
My love affair with my feline friends started when I was 5 years old. My sisters and I snuck a cute black and white kitten into the house. We kept it in our basement until Mom and Dad discovered our new fur friend. By then, Chico was a family member.
Over the years, I have loved and mourned many fur babies. Each one leaves an indelible mark on my heart. Last fall I said goodbye to my beloved 21-year-old cat, Harry. Yes, he was 21 years old and alert to the end. He was quite the character. His passing left a huge abyss in my life. The house was empty and too quiet. It needed some liveliness.
Enter Coco and Habib. They are my new rescue kitties, 1-year-old multicolored calico, and 3-year-old grey tabby. In a brief 5 months, they have already captured my heart. I don’t know anything about their background. But any cat in my care is entering kitty nirvana. These two really deserved a good life after being out in the wild. And they have embraced the good life with gusto.
August 8th was International Cat Day. International Cat Day was originally created in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare as a way for people to honor their feline friends and as a day to advocate for cats.
This dress is vintage H&M. I have loved it for many years. I still wear it on occasion…usually when I am feeling skinny. We hope all you cat people out there enjoy our celebration. Sorry, you dog people…we will work on a tribute for you later.
