Ageless Style Fall Trend Report: Plaids Galore!

No doubt about it…plaid is a classic look. I remember a pleated kilt I wore in high school (too many moons ago). It was blue, green and white plaid. This kilt’s styling would be so apropos today. Darn it! I wish I didn’t get rid of it during my mod 70s days. I bet you have a treasure regrettably provided to charity.

Plaid’s style versatility makes it the perfect print for fall.  This season we see the fabric in casual and upscale styling by many designers. What makes the 2018 plaid trend different from previous years?  This season plaid is reinvented. The fall plaid styles have a sleek modern upgrade. Colorful oversized and micro plaid prints add a freshness to the classic style. Look for tailored plaid apparel with pretty embellishments and unexpected color combos. These features make the classic patterns pop.

There are so many types of plaids out there.  What makes a tartan, houndstooth, windowpane, or glen plaid? We need a tutorial to identify them. Just for you…check out this article for help. If you want to purchase one item, then go for a houndstooth pattern. Houndstooth will dominate through the holiday season. Select a classic black and white houndstooth with crystals, fur or embroidery embellishments. FYI, my coveted kilt was a tartan plaid. I knew you couldn’t live another day without knowing.

For the adventurous out there…try mixing different colored plaid pieces together or mixing plaid materials together.  Apply Ageless Style’s rules.
